Energio Research S.L. is a technology-based company (TBC) founded in 2015 by faculty members from the area of thermal machines and engines at the University of Vigo. Since its inception, the main objective has been to facilitate technology transfer between the research carried out by the Energy Technology Group GTE and the business sector.
José Luis Miguez Tabarés
Full professor at the Department of Thermal Engines. Industrial Engineer University of Santiago de Compostela 1987. PhD Industrial Engineering University of Vigo 1996. His teaching activity includes thermal engineering. Areas of scientific research: Renewable energy (biomass).

David Patiño Vilas
Industrial Engineer and PhD in Industrial Engineering, focuses his line of research on the sustainability and energy efficiency of biomass thermal combustion systems, the reduction of gaseous emissions in combustion, and CO₂ capture and storage technologies.

Manuel A. Juncal Rosales
Manuel Juncal holds a Mining Engineering degree from the University of Vigo, and earned a PhD in Paleontology and Stratigraphy within the “M. Sciences, Technology and Management” program. He completed a Master’s in Occupational Risk Prevention (2021) and a Master’s in Integrated Project Management (2025). He works at Energio Research S.L. as head of R&D management.

Mariola Juncal Rosales
She earned her degree in Mining Engineering in 2018 and joined the team as a Project Manager in 2021. During her studies, she specialized in materials technology and metallurgy.

Javier Pereiro Matalobos
Javier Pereiro Matalobos is a mechanical engineer. His training includes a Higher Specialist Technician qualification in Self-Propelled Vehicle Maintenance, a Technical Industrial Engineering degree (Mechanical specialization), a degree in Automation and Industrial Electronics Engineering, and a Master’s in Thermal Engineering from the University of Vigo. At Energio Research, he serves as the head of the Mechanical and Electronics Engineering Department.

César Álvarez Bermudez
César Álvarez Bermúdez holds a BSc in Energy Engineering from the University of Vigo and an MSc in Energy Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, specializing in Renewable Energies. His experience includes four years as a researcher at GTE–CINTECX (UVigo) focusing on CFD simulations of thermal systems, and four years under an FPI contract at UVigo pursuing a PhD on the numerical modeling of large-scale biomass thermal conversion processes. At Energio, he serves as Head of the Simulation Department.
